Developer’s Kit

For wind turbine system developers, the specially configured Viryd version of the NuVinci CVP Developers kit is perfect for prototyping the use of a NuVinci CVP into your wind turbine. The Developers kit allows you to test and validate your wind turbine with an integrated, fully automatic CVP.

The developer's kit includes the NuVinci CVP, a electric actuator to shift the CVP, a programmable controller to develop shift schedules of CVP ratio versus wind speed, output power or rotor speed as well as a speed pick-up sensor to measure rotation speed on any components such as the rotor or generator.

Receive the benefits of the NuVinci CVP as you develop your system including the ability to maintain the rotor at its optimal performance, maintain a constant output speed and use the CVP to regulate power above rated capacity.

The developers kit allows you to:
  • Easily integrate a NuVinci CVP into your wind turbine.
  • Control the CVP through a simple and easily configurable shift map.
  • Automatically shift the CVP through closed loop control or manually shift the CVP for discrete event testing (move CVP ratio manually).
  • Easily update the CVP shift map to optimize your system operation.
  • Run multiple shift maps to determine optimal performance.
  • Experiment with aggressive airfoils to optimize the rotor and system energy capture.
  • Incorporate and validate the benefit of having a CVP in a wind turbine system including variable speed control and overspeed control, along with the elimination of power electronics.

The NuVinci Developer's Kit is currently best suited for use in prototyping horizontal small wind turbine systems but the technology has broad applicability.
